The Teaching Word

 Genesis 1

(Remez and Drash levels of interpretation)

1. In the house of the head Elohim filled the empty space with the heavens and with the earth.

This teaches us that all is through Wisdom which is Torah and Israel which are both the same source of all.  Nothing was complete until we have Abraham and the temple in which God dwells.  Creation is still lacking until HaShem dwells with his bride.  Thus we need the written Torah and the oral Torah: the soul and the body: Messiah and the kingdom: the connector and the lost.  This is the purpose of all creation: that HaShem can dwell in his people.

2. The state of the earth was unformed and shells for forms.  The presence of darkness was burning upon this womb and the breath of Elohim fluttered, moving upon the waters.

From here we can learn that Messiah comes from a state of great need.  Earth is in great travail with no life of her own unless YHWH has a way of reaching her.  Even though Earth is an unformed substance he sees Messiah who is the light and so from the darkness -

3. Elohim says, "Let him exist light."  And since there were no other witnesses - he establishes that light existed.

This light always existed just as the beginning was not the beginning for God.   Rather the beginning is the cause of the beginning - as well as the end.  Thus He is and He was and He will be (revealed for the righteous in the future.)

4. Then Elohim saw the light and since Elohim the light is good he sanctified as a curtain between the light and between the darkness.

From this we learn that those who have this light should share it but not in a way that is overwhelming to those in darkness.  It needs to be broken down in a way that they will receive it - not be condemned by it.

וַיִּקְרָ֨א אֱלֹהִ֤ים ׀ לָאוֹר֙ י֔וֹם וְלַחֹ֖שֶׁךְ קָ֣רָא לָ֑יְלָה וַֽיְהִי־עֶ֥רֶב וַֽיְהִי־בֹ֖קֶר י֥וֹם אֶחָֽד׃ {פ}

5. Then Elohim named the light day and the darkness he named night.  Thus from noon till midnight we have 12 hours where light diminishes until the light of that day is gone and from midnight until noon we have 12 hours for a renewed and more powerful light to increase.

The challenge for us who live in this kingdom of darkness to remain lit in order to give light to those in darkness.  Our day should not be 12 hours but 24.  Even the darkness is light to HaShem.
